A wise man—whom you probably recognize from the photos of him sticking out his tongue—once said: “Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler!”
I could apply this to myself as well. I like simplicity—both in people and in moments that happen naturally—but I don’t believe that a videographer should always remain completely invisible. I use music, editing, and rhythm, and sometimes I ask people to do something again, so that everything in the film feels just as real and alive as it did in that moment.
Most of the time, I let the day take its own course, but when necessary, I nudge things along a bit or steer events in the right direction. Sometimes a moment slips by because that’s just how it happens. But other times, I manage to notice something that others don’t see. And often, it’s precisely these moments that become the most special.
I try not to chase trends. They change. Genuine emotions—no.
In my work, the focus will always be on people and their stories. Laughter, excitement, silence, hugs, chance glances, and everything else that makes your day your day. If a moment can be slightly enhanced with music or editing, it’s only so that when you watch the film, you’ll feel the same way you did on that day.
I want your wedding film to be more than just a reminder of what happened. I want you to be able to watch it five, ten, or twenty years from now and feel the atmosphere of that day all over again.
If you also believe that emotions are more important than perfectly staged shots, then we’re probably on the same page.
You only have one wedding day. Spend it exactly as you wish.
