An exhibition by the “RĪGA” photo studio titled “Haiku Through Latvian Eyes” will be on display in Riga
From August 2 to 31, 2026, the Mencendorf House in Riga will host an exhibition by the “RĪGA” photo studio titled “Haiku Through Latvian Eyes.”
The exhibition’s title refers to haiku—a short and concise form of Japanese poetry in which a moment, a mood of nature, or an emotional experience is captured in just a few words. The studio’s photographers interpret this same principle through photography, creating visual stories about Latvia’s nature, light, seasons, and moments observed in everyday life.
Photography as a Visual Haiku
In the works featured in the exhibition, photography becomes a brief yet profound message. Landscapes, shifts in light, details, and tranquil views of nature invite the viewer to pause and see the seemingly simple in a different light.
The exhibition “Haiku Through Latvian Eyes” was previously on view at the VEF Culture Palace from February 17 to March 15, where it was displayed in the exhibition hall and the lobby. In August, the works will find a new home in the historic Mencendorf House in Old Riga.
